Semmy Schilt’s visit at the Royal House of the Netherlands
“Maxima was gone before I noticed it.”
The 4th of July is for a lot of Americans a memorable day, but for sur it is for Sem who had an invitation from the Royal House of the Netherlands.
Invited by Prince Willem Alexander and Princess Maxima K1 fighter Semmy Schilt visited Palace Noordeinde early in the afternoon for a lunch with the Royal Family.
A short impression:
Was the invitation a shock for you?
Absolute super of course. So now and then the Prince invites people who did something special or achieved something in sports, art or something else.
He thought that after winning the K1 Grand Prix three times on a row that this was a special achievement.
How was the program?
I was there around 12 and we talked before the lunch about several things. After this we went for the lunch and I had a table with several people and also Princess Maxima was at our table. She told some stories about her charity projects in Africa.
It was around 15.00 h. that I left the palace.
You spoke with the Prince about what?
He was very well informed in what I did and have achieved in Kickboxing. Recently he visited Japan and Japanese parliamentarians mentioned my name as a famous Dutchmen.
He know that K1 is a big thing in Japan and showed his respect for the things I achieved till now.
It was really great and pleasant to talk with him.
How was Princess Maxima, did you speak with her?
Like I said, I shared the table with her and she is really nice.
I just thought to make a picture with her but I was to late, because she already stood up from her chair and left. So at that moment it is difficult to say “He…wait a minute, I want a picture with you”. But my picture with Our Royal Highness is a big experience, that is something people can not deny or take away from me.

Hello Sem, I saw you win a fight at Tv, but there was also a Frisian flag in the ring. Is your crew Frisian, or what else brought the flag in the ring, I read you were born in Rotterdam - so?
Greetings. Menno from the Netherlands.
